Clematis aristata
Vigorous climber with green leaves and masses of creamy white star flowers in spring followed by white feathery seed heads. Performs best in deep soil with a cool root run and overhead cover and responds well to irrigation. Can be grown up a trellis or fence or used as a ground cover. In the wild it is most often found scrambling up nearby trees. |
Clematis microphylla [LOCAL] sold out, cuttings in cutting bed
A medium sized climber to 5m. Deep green divided leaves and profuse small cream flowers in July to November followed by bearded fruits. Prefers well-drained soils in sun or part shade. Tolerates frost and dry conditions but grows faster with added moisture. Dainty covering and winter colour for screen or fence. |
Hardenbergia violacea [LOCAL]
Ground cover or trailing plant to 1.5mW with olive coloured leaves and masses of purple flowers in spring followed by brown seed pods. Full sun to part shade in well-drained position. Some forms are damaged by frost in which case a hard prune after frost will rejuvenate the plant. Great for growing over banks, up a trellis screen or simply as a ground cover. |
